Ronald Sherrer's Obituary
Ronald E. Sherrer, son of Van and Alma Knapp Sherrer, was born August 4, 1937, near Sleeper, Missouri. He departed this life on October 14, 2006, on his farm at Long Lane, Missouri, at the age of sixty-nine years, two months, and ten days. He was united in marriage to Darlene Phillips on April 21, 1956, and to this union two children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; and two brothers, Adrian and James Sherrer Ronald is survived by his wife, Darlene, of the home; a son, Doyle Sherrer, of Long Lane, Missouri, and a daughter, Debbie Whipple, of Cross Timbers, Missouri; four grandchildren, Shaun Whipple, Michael Whipple, Khristopher Sherrer, and Krystal Sherrer; four brothers and sisters-in-law, Oscar Sherrer, and wife, Ethel, and Dencil Sherrer, and wife, Sarah, all of Sleeper, Missouri, Glendal Sherrer, and wife, Esther, and Keith Sherrer, and wife, Wilma, all of Stoutland, Missouri, as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised in the Sleeper, Missouri community. In 1976, he and Darlene moved to their farm in the Long Lane area. In addition to farming, he was employed at the H.D. Lee plant for thirty-nine years. He had made his profession of faith, and as a young man had attended Sleeper Pentecostal Church with his family. He later attended the Cedar Ridge Freewill Baptist Church where his church family was very important to him. In his spare time he enjoyed cattle farming and working on cars. He was a very talented musician and loved playing the guitar and singing gospel bluegrass with his brother Oscar. Ronald was also quite proud of the fact that his grandson had taught him how to use the computer. Ronald’s favorite saying was “Don’t Give Up”. Ronald was a loving husband, father, grandfather and brother, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, October 19, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to the Cedar Ridge Perpetual Care Fund may be made through the funeral home.
