Rose M. Behrens (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Rose Marlene Behrens was born on April 8, 1936 in Newell, Iowa to Zelma A. Worm (Leeper) and Fred D. Worm. She passed away on June 15, 2025 in McAllen, Texas at the age of 89. Rose was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Leroy Smith; her parents, Fred and Zelma Worm; and her sister, Joyce Reynolds.
Rose is survived by her daughter, Verna Joy Torres of Jefferson City, Missouri; her brother, LeRoy Worm of Garland, Texas; five grandchildren, Alicia Smith, Andrea Smith, Maranda Torres, Mariah Torres and Jacob Torres, all of Missouri; six great-grandchildren, Rosie, Attie, Mia, Joshua, Ethan and Irelynn; four nephews, Fred, John, Dan and Martin; and a very special family friend, Debbie Turrieta, who was a pillar of support for Rose and her family, most importantly in recent years.
Rose spent the early years of her adult life as a military wife, enjoying Europe and experiencing the joy of motherhood. Once returning stateside, she traveled to many different areas and settled in Southern Texas.
Rose was an impeccable keeper of family history and collected photos, newspaper clippings, slides, videos, letters, stories and more. Rose found fulfillment in saving neighborhood cats by providing them with shelter and food. In addition to helping animals in the area, Rose volunteered her time as a Candy Striper providing aid and care to those in environments of need. When Rose was not busy with volunteer work, you could find her watching one of her favorite programs, Dancing with the Stars or staying sharp by working a word search. Rose was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, aunt, grandma, great-grandma and friend. Rose will be interred at Mount Rose Memorial Park in Lebanon, Missouri next to her son, Kevin, on July 18, 2025.
