Rose Dougherty's Obituary
Rose Marie Dougherty, daughter of George and Grace Price Frederickson, was born January 16, 1937 in Phoenix, Arizona. She departed this life Sunday, September 23, 2007 in her residence in Macomb, Missouri at the age of seventy years, eight months, and seven days. On November 18, 1954, Rose was united in marriage to James “Jim” Dougherty and to this union four daughters and two sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant daughter, Lillie Dawn; and her step-father, Gilbert Ovist. Rose is survived by her husband Jim, of the home; her children, James Dougherty and his wife, Joanna, of Springfield, Patti Esmail and her husband Sam, of Mabelvale, Arkansas, Jennie Piland and her husband, Joe, of Seymour, Mike Dougherty and his wife, Beth, of Macomb, and Sherri Mitchell and her husband, Kavin, of Mountain Grove; nine grandchildren, Tim and Heather Piland, J.R., Treanna, Vanessa and Serena Dougherty, Sarah Esmail, Jennifer Hill and her husband, Blake, and James Mitchell; two great-grandchildren, Andrew and Hunter Hill; a number of nieces and nephews as well as a host of other relatives and friends. Rose was born in Arizona and moved to the State of Washington in the mid 1940’s. While living in Washington, she met and married Jim and together they made their home in Shelton, Washington for thirteen years until moving to Macomb in 1967. Besides being a devoted homemaker, she worked side by side with her husband Jim, painting, pouring cement, whatever needed to be done, Rose would do it and she was sure to do it right. Rose had attended the Mansfield Church of Christ. Rose dearly loved her family. She enjoyed having a good laugh and telling stories and jokes with her family and friends as well as singing Karaoke with Jim. She had a knack for ceramics and enjoyed reading. To know Rose was to love her. She was a wonderful person who cared deeply for others. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, September 27, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Shiloh Cemetery, Douglas County, Missouri. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
