Rose Evelyn Davis' Obituary
Rose Evelyn Davis, daughter of Charles Anselmo and Grace Isabelle Rhodes Barton, was born June 5, 1919, in Santa Rosa, California. She departed this life Saturday, August 5, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-seven years, and two months. On June 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to Kenneth Wayne Davis and together they have spent the last forty-seven years. She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Jeannie Cloyed; two grandchildren, Christopher Wayne Davis and James Chapman; three sisters, Ruth, Jean, and Pearl; and three brothers, Roger, Bob, and Charley. Rose is survived by her husband, Kenneth, of the home; a daughter, Rosalie Claxton, and her husband, Victor, of Seymour, Missouri; a son, Bill Bartlett, and his wife, Neta, of San Francisco, California; four grandchildren, David Claxton, and his wife, Tammy, of Seymour, Missouri, Danny Claxton, of Hartville, Missouri, Joe Claxton, and his wife, Christine, of Seymour, Missouri, and Lisa Bartlett, of San Francisco, California; fifteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; a brother, Joe Barton, of Seymour, Missouri; a half brother, Pat Bains, of the State of California; a brother-in-law; Glen Davis, and his wife, Shirley, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Mendocino County, California and then moved to Webster County, Missouri. After she and Kenneth were married, they lived in Seymour, Missouri, where she worked at the shoe factory until they moved to Kansas City, Missouri, where she worked for a screen printing company. Then in 1977, they moved back to Seymour to make their home. Rose had made her profession of faith in Christ, and was a member of the Freewill Baptist Church. In her spare time she greatly enjoyed growing beautiful flowers, loved her birds and dogs, and also liked to travel with her family when her health permitted. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, August 9, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Visitation will be held Tuesday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Memorial contributions to the Gideon Bible Ministry may be made through the funeral home.
