Rose Helsley's Obituary
Rose Faye Helsley, daughter of John Herbert and Maggie Myrtle Johnson Young, was born June 22, 1933 in Wright County, Missouri. She departed this life Monday, March 22, 2010 in Cox Medical Center South, Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy-six years and nine months. On June 8, 1952, Rose was united in marriage to R.E. Helsley and to this union two children were born. Rose was preceded in death by her parents; four brothers Noble, Sam, Fike, and one who died in infancy; four sisters, Berniece, Maggie, Genevieve, and Barbara, and two who died in infancy. She is survived by her husband, R.E. of the home; a daughter Kathy Garrison and her husband, Roger, of Mansfield; a son, Mark Helsley and his wife, Tresa, of Mansfield; three grandsons, Steven Garrison and his wife, Heather, and Jeremy Garrison and his wife, Rachelle, all of Macomb, Missouri, and Joseph Garrison and his wife, Kelli, of Hartville, Missouri; five great-grandchildren, Kaliesha Garrison, Kayla Garrison, Kiersten Garrison, Carter and Aiden Garrison; a brother, Jesse Young and his wife, Sybil, of Springfield, Missouri; three sisters, Helen Hanley of Riverside, California, Betty Weber of Kansas City, Kansas, and Patty Young of Kansas City, Missouri; a number of nieces, nephews, and a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Rose was born in Wright County and was a graduate of Norwood High School in the Class of 1952. Rose spent all of her life in Wright County, and after her marriage to R.E., they made their home in Mansfield. Rose had accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior and was a member of the Oak Grove Freewill Baptist Church in Norwood. She was also a dedicated preacher’s wife, supporting R.E. in his ministry. In her spare time, Rose enjoyed crocheting and cooking. Rose was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and honor her accomplishments, and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed and will forever live on in our hearts. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Wednesday March 24, 2010 at the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield. Burial will be in the Wolf Creek Cemetery. Visitation is Tuesday evening at the funeral Home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
