Rosie Marie Henderson
Rosie Marie (Hargus) Henderson, daughter of Luther and Mary (Cantrell) Hargus, was born August 26, 1927 in Seymour, Missouri. She departed this life surrounded by her loved ones, Saturday evening, April 13, 2013 in Glenwood Healthcare, Seymour, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, eight months and eighteen days.
Marie, as she was known to her family and friends, was the fifth child of thirteen. She was raised near Seymour and enjoyed the growing up in the Ozark hills. On September 2, 1944 Marie and Elvis Ray Henderson were united in marriage and to this union four sons and two daughters were born. The young couple moved to their dairy farm south of Seymour where they maintained it for fifty-two years.
She is preceded in death by her husband of fifty-four, Elvis Henderson; two sons, Joe Dean and James (Bob) Henderson; one grandchild, Jeffery Dean Henderson; her parents; her two brothers, Elston and Clarence Hargus; and four sisters, Lorene Goss, Louisy Hargus, Juanita Ensley, and Jolene Stephens.
Marie is survived by her children, Everett Wayne Henderson and wife Martha of Rogersville, Missouri, Linda Williams and husband David of Marshfield, Missouri, Gary Henderson and wife Carolyn of Seymour, Missouri and Betty Cawthra and husband Robert of Ozark, Missouri; her grandchildren Melissa Teal, Danny Henderson, Janice Rippee, Angela Willis, Terry Henderson, LeAnn Pittman, Christi Williams, Sheldon Cawthra, Shannon Cawthra, Derek Cawthra and Jody Jameson; her great-grandchildren, Brianna, Jasmine, Taylor, Wyatt, Riley, Parker, Makaila, Bryent, Logan, Brooklyn, Lincoln and Jozie; three brothers Lawrence Hargus, Bill Hargus and James Hargus; three sisters, Dorothy Porter, Mary Lou Bolten and Deny Fields.
Marie was a member of Mansfield Assembly of God Church in Mansfield, Missouri. She faithfully served her Lord Jesus Christ giving to others and teaching her family faith by example. Children had a special place in Marie’s heart, and she treasured them.
A dairy farmer’s wife, Marie found favor in working with her hands. She lovingly raised her family, enjoyed the chores of caring for the livestock and tending to her gardens. She was often at the Senior Citizen Center and loved to play bingo. But, Marie was at her happiest surrounded by her family, she was proud to be a Mom, a Grandma and a Granny.
A devoted wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and a caring neighbor and friend, Marie Henderson leaves behind a legacy of grace, faith and unconditional love. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will treasure the memories she has created for each of us.
Services for Marie Henderson will be held Wednesday, April 17, 2013 at 2p.m. in the Holman Howe Chapel, Seymour, Missouri. Burial will follow in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery under the direction of Holman Howe Funeral Homes of Seymour. Visitation will be from 6-7p.m. Tuesday, April 16, 2013.
