Rowena L. Wallace (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Rowena Ledessa Wallace, daughter of David Calvin and Gwendolyn Martin Snider, was born on Friday, August 13, 1957, in Post, Texas. She departed this life Friday, October 22, 2010, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-three years, two months, and nine days.
She was preceded in death by her father; and a brother, David C. Snider, Jr.
“Mama Red”, as she was often called by her family and friends, is survived by four sons, Joey Smith, and his wife, Anna, of Napa Valley, California, Darrin Smith, and his wife, LaShelle, of Richland, Missouri, Aaron Smith, and Matthew Smith, and his fiancée, Amanda, all of Lebanon, Missouri; six grandchildren; her mother, Gwen Snider, of Inverness, Florida; three sisters, Melanie Foreman, of St. Louis, Missouri, Sherri Snider, of Inverness, Florida, and Marie Kuhn, of Albuquerque, New Mexico; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Texas, and graduated from Vega High School. She loved raising horses and was a successful rider, competing in barrel races and other events. After moving from California back to Texas, in 1988, she attended truck driving school and became a truck driver for several years. She then moved to Lebanon in 1989, and made her home.
Rowena had accepted Christ as her personal Savior and had attended the Lebanon Nazarene Church. She battled many illnesses throughout her life and was a cancer survivor.
In her spare time she enjoyed doing artwork of all kinds, particularly drawing and crafts. She also enjoyed being outdoors, rock hunting and experiencing nature. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren.
Rowena was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring, loving and generous neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those she loved and loved her.
