Roy Dampier, Sr. (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Roy Clinton Dampier, Sr., son of Troy Dampier, Sr. and Mary Lissie Vaughn Dampier, was born March 2, 1944, near Nebo, Missouri. He departed this life Wednesday, August 13, 2014, in Windsor Estates, in Camdenton, Missouri, at the age of seventy years, five months, and eleven days.
On April 17, 1965, in Eldridge, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Janet Jean Taylor, and to this union two sons were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Janet, on August 2, 2003; and three brothers, Troy Dampier, Jr., Charles and Bill Dampier.
Roy is survived by two sons, Roy C. Dampier, Jr., and his wife, Barbara, and Brandon Dampier, all of Lebanon, Missouri; four grandchildren, Joshua Payne, John Dampier, Joe Muscia, and Jessie Weaver; ten great-grandchildren; three brothers, L. D. Dampier, and his wife, Sheila, Joe Dampier, and his wife, Joyce, and Gary Dampier, all of Lebanon, Missouri; five sisters, Hazel England, and her husband, Bill, Opal Green, Wilma Ivey, and her husband, Wib, Kay Zeigenbein, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Linda Newkirk, and her husband, Larry, of Florence, Alabama; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born near Nebo, Missouri, and was raised in the Lebanon area. After he and Janet were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their sons. Roy worked as a presser and roller operator for the H. D. Lee Company in Lebanon for thirty-eight years before retiring.
Roy made his profession of faith in Christ early in his life and attended Garfield Avenue Church of God for as long as his health allowed.
In his spare time he enjoyed frog gigging, watching westerns on television, and caring for his lawn. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Roy was a loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his seventy years.
Memorial donations to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, may be made through the funeral home.
