Roy Shivers' Obituary
Roy Lee Shivers, son of Ralph and Flossie Watkins Shivers, was born October 27, 1936, near Abo, Missouri. He departed this life Thursday, November 8, 2007, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years and eleven days. On August 17, 1962, he was united in marriage to Bernice Ogle, and to this union one daughter and three sons were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Kenneth Shivers; and a sister, Cleo Lindsay. Roy is survived by his loving wife of forty-five years, Bernice, of the home; three sons, Ricky “Butch” Shivers, Larry Shivers, and Preston Shivers, and his wife, Sheryl, all of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Vicky Woodruff, and her husband, Robert, of Sarasota, Florida; nine grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dean Shivers, and his wife, Charlene, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Don Shivers, and his wife, Blanch, of Richland, Missouri; a sister, Norma Landtroup, of Springfield, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. He was born and raised near Abo, in Laclede County, Missouri, and graduated from Lebanon High School in the Class of 1953. After he and Bernice were married, they made their home on a farm near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. Roy worked as a heavy equipment operator of the Laclede County Road District for several years and then was employed by Lebanon Ready Mix. Roy had made his profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith throughout his life. He enjoyed being outdoors and life on the farm. He had a delightful personality and liked playing tricks and practical jokes on people. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. He will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him. Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. Saturday, November 10, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Return to top
