Roy Whitehouse (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Roy Whitehouse of Bolivar, MO, formerly of Bellflower, IL, went home to Heaven on October 17, at 7:45 PM.
Roy was born to Roy Whitehouse and Lucille Wagner Whitehouse on September 14, 1941, in Bloomington, IL. His parents and sister Marilyn preceded him in death. He is survived by sister Marjorie Daniel, Springfield, MO, brother Kenneth Whitehouse, and sister Barbara (John) Whitehouse-Gercken both of Bellflower, IL, six nephews and nieces, and 13 great nephews and great nieces.
Roy was a graduate of Bellflower Township High School and then volunteered for service in the US Army. He served at Fort Bliss, El Paso, TX, and a Nike Missile base near Anchorage, AK, as company supply driver. Roy returned to Alaska to work at Thorn Bay Logging Camp near Ketchikan to earn money to buy land to raise cattle. He settled near Half Way, MO, and became a cattleman, loving every minute he spent outdoors, never considering it work. Roy loved animals, and particularly loved his cattle and his dogs. He worked several jobs including driving for Conco Quarry from which he retired in 2004.
Besides running a cow-calf herd, he was an avid reader of the Bible, Civil War history, and history of the American West. He was accompanied in his daily travels by his beloved border collie Kate.
