Rub 's Obituary
Ruby Irene Arnold, daughter of Elmer Lee and Lillie Mae Broyles Griffin, was born October 21, 1910, near Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Tuesday, December 2, 2008, in Greene Haven Nursing Home, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-eight years, one month, and eleven days. On December 10, 1928, she was united in marriage to Edward Elijah Arnold, and they shared sixty-three years before his passing on April 7, 1992. She was also preceded in death by her parents; two daughters, Carma Jean Lamy, and an infant; a son, Gary E. Arnold; a grandson, Eric Lamy; four brothers, Hershel Lee, Roy Estes, Guy, and Hansel E. Griffin; and a sister, Mary Viola Williams. Ruby is survived by a daughter, Doris Maxine West, and her husband, Jack, of Nacogdoches, Texas; six grandchildren, Eron, Eiress, Bruce, Randy, Brian, and Kelly; five great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; a sister, Nell Ostergaard, of the State of Arizona; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area. After she and Edward were married, they made their home in the Lebanon community, and lovingly raised their children. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Ruby worked at the Rice Stix Factory for several years. Later, she moved to Springfield, Missouri, where she was employed by the J. C. Penney Company, and then worked in the cafeteria at Parkview High School for a few years. Ruby made her profession of faith in Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of White Oak Pond Cumberland Presbyterian Church for many years. After moving to Springfield, she became a member of the Springfield Cumberland Presbyterian Church. She remained active in her church for as long as her health allowed. In her spare time she enjoyed caring for her home, growing beautiful flowers, and being with her family and friends. Her family was always most important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and will cherish the memories she created for her family and friends. Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm Thursday December 4, 2008 at the White Oak Pond Cemetery.
