Ruby Mae Allen (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ruby Mae Allen was born October 21, 1929 in Camden County, Missouri to Ellis and Lula Mae Roofener Moore. She passed away Monday, March 4, 2024 in her home in Lebanon, Missouri, surrounded by her family.
Ruby was raised in Camden County and attended school there. On April 10, 1949, she married the love of her life and best friend, Donald Ellis Allen. They shared over forty-seven years of marriage before he passed away on June 15, 1996.
Following their marriage, they made their home on their family farm near Lebanon and welcomed four children to their family. Ruby was a homemaker throughout her married life and loved being a mother, and later, a grandmother and great-grandmother.
Ruby is survived by her daughter, Charlotte Prater and her husband Richard of Buffalo, Missouri; two sons, Douglas Allen of Lebanon, Missouri and Arthur Allen and his wife Carla of Columbia, Missouri; four sisters, Jewell Nutter of Montreal, Missouri, Hazel Slater of Deep Water, Missouri, Frieda Jennings and her husband John of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Shirley Bell of Eldridge, Missouri; her brother, Delbert Moore of Lebanon, Missouri; her grandchildren, Rebekah and her husband Jason, Brent, Kenny, Travis, Erin, Brad, Amy, Ashley, Jeffrey and Andrew; and eighteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; her daughter, Donna Rae Denny; her sister, Crystal Waters; a brother, Donald Moore; and her great-grandson, William.
Ruby loved life. She spent countless hours working in her garden and was thrilled when it was time to harvest the fruits of her labor. She canned food to be enjoyed later and shared many of her fresh vegetables with neighbors and friends.
She was very accomplished at crocheting and made baby blankets for her great-grandchildren. She didn’t stop there, she continued to crochet and donated blankets to the Missouri State Highway Patrol for them to give to children they may encounter. She also entered her crafts in the county fair and brought home many ribbons and awards.
In their younger years, she and Donald enjoyed traveling and seeing the United States. After his passing, she continued to travel with her children and grandchildren.
Ruby was gifted in many areas, but her greatest gift was her ability to love. Her obvious pride could always be witnessed when she talked about her family. She loved each one unconditionally and looked forward to being together for big family dinners and to celebrate special occasions.
Words cannot adequately express the impact she has had on the lives of her family and so many others. Her fingerprints are on them, and her arms are around them even now.

Funeral service for Ruby Mae Allen will be Friday, March 8, 2024 at 1 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Visitation will be Thursday, March 7 from 6 - 8 p.m. at Holman-Howe Funeral Home. Burial will be in Ira Cemetery.
A memorial to Ira Cemetery has been established and donations may be left at the funeral home.
