On June 23, 1944, she was united in marriage to Frank Forrest Smith, and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank, on March 28, 2012; a brother, Don T. Smotherman; and a sister, Carole Poole.
“Jennie”, as she was lovingly called by her family and friends, is survived by a daughter, Diane Smith, of Kansas City, Missouri; two sons, Rick Smith, of Aurora, Missouri, and Kevin Smith, of Pleasant Valley, Missouri; two granddaughters, Lisa and Laura; four great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; two sisters, Helen Testerman, and Margie Dineff, both of Granite City, Illinois; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Birch Tree and then moved with her family to St. Louis, Missouri, when she was in high school. She and Frank married just after she graduated from high school and made their home in Mountain View, Richland and then in Lebanon. Through the years, Jennie was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, and also worked at the Missouri Career Center for several years. Later, she and Frank enjoyed living in their lake home on the Lake of the Ozarks.
Jennie made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a member of First Baptist Church of Lebanon for a number of years. After moving to the lake, she became a member of First Baptist Church of Camdenton.
Once Frank retired, he and Jennie enjoyed traveling to all sorts of places. They also enjoyed living on the lake and entertaining friends. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her granddaughters.
Jennie was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-two years.
