Ruby Jones (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Ruby Estelle Jones, daughter of Thomas Jefferson and Elsie Heywood, was born October 22, 1928 in Hayes, Virginia and departed this life on January 12, 2016 in Autumn Oaks Caring Center in Mtn. Grove, Missouri at the age of eighty-seven years, two months and twenty days.
On April 9, 1946 she was united in marriage to Raleigh Dewight “R.D.” Jones(known as Turkey Jones) and to this union ten children were born. She was preceded in death by her husband, R.D. on September 19, 1988. She was also preceded in death by a daughter, Linda Jones Pollet on September 9, 2008; two grandchildren, Derrick Corey Honeycutt and Devin Corey Honeycutt; two great-grandchildren, Bryson Coffman and Abbigal Nelson; two brothers, Walter and Frank Heywood; two sisters, Jenny & Louise; step-father, Robert Campbell Ruby is survived by five daughters, Gracie Walker of Mansfield, Missouri, Kay Sanderson and Gary of Buffalo, Missouri, Barbara Jones of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, Sherry Welker and husband, Chuck of Mtn. Grove, Missouri, and Vickey Stevens and husband, Jeff of Tennessee; four sons, Tom Jones and wife, Liz, Bill Jones and wife, Trice, Johnnie Jones and Sara all of Mansfield, Missouri and Paul Jones and wife, Kristi of Katy, Texas; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-nine great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren other relatives and many friends. She was born and raised in Virginia and met R.D. in New Port News, Virginia where he was stationed in the Army Air Corps. After they were married they moved to Oklahoma for a short time before moving to California. She and R.D. moved to Mansfield, Missouri in 1966. Ruby was a devoted wife and homemaker and enjoyed running her consignment and bait shop south of Mansfield. In her spare time she loved fishing, gardening and sewing. She also thought everything needed to ironed(EVERYTHING). Ruby was known for her spunky attitude and her dedication to her family and very much enjoyed being with her children and grandchildren. She will be dearly missed by her family and many friends
