Ruby Juanita (Graven) Arnold's Obituary
Ruby Juanita (Graven) Arnold went to be with her Lord and Savior on December 31, 2007, in Glenwood Nursing Home, Seymour, Mo., at the age of 92, after a long illness. She was surrounded by her family and loved ones as they sang to her and shared all of their special and wonderful memories. Ruby was born June 22, 1915. She was a devoted, caring and loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, daughter and aunt. She loved to grow roses and flowers in her garden, enjoyed sewing and was a wonderful cook. Listening to gospel music was another of her favorite pastimes. Ruby had a very kind, gentle spirit and loved to be surrounded by her family and friends. She was a member of Cedar Gap Baptist Church in Seymour, MO. In 1987, she became a member of the Seymour Order of the Eastern Star, Chapter #144. After growing up in the Evening Shade Community, near Manes, MO, she met Roy D. Arnold and they were married in Hartville, MO, on August 1, 1936. Roy and Ruby lived in the Manes area before moving to Idaho, Oregon, and Washington for several years. In 1952, they returned to Mtn. Grove, MO, and in 1960 they moved to Seymour, where they were both employed by Bauer Brother’s Shoe Company and later at the H.D. Lee Co. They spent 53 years together in marriage before Roy’s passing on June 22, 1989. Together they had 3 children: Janet K. Rainey, Roy “Don” Arnold and Peggy S. Pennington. Preceding Ruby in death were her parents, Edward and Margaret (Crisp) Graven; her husband, Roy D. Arnold; her brothers, Don, Arden, Hadley, Vernon, Delburn and Orvill Graven; two sisters, Ora and Virgie; and an infant sibling. She is survived by a brother, Leon Graven and wife, Georgie, of Independence, MO; a son, Roy “Don” Arnold and wife, Mary, of Rogersville; two daughters, Janet K. Rainey and husband, John, of Springfield, Peggy S. Pennington and husband, Ken, of Seymour; six grandchildren, Lisa and Buck Glover, of Fordland, Kendra Clark and husband, Brad, of Navasota, TX, John Michael Rainey and wife, Jeannie, of Baltimore, MD, Christine Uber and husband, Chad, of Nixa, Lori Sturgill and husband, Bob, of Springfield, Tawnia Baron and husband, Chris, of Rogersville; fifteen great-grandchildren, Kiley, Koda and Jaden Clark, James and Andy Glover, Adam, Sarah and Steven Pogue, Connor Rainey, Carsen, Nick, Callie and Chayse Baron, Jake and Nathan Uber; two sisters-in-law, Roxie Arnold of Chico, CA, and Ann Borden and husband, Clyde, of Gladstone, OR. Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, January 3, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri.
