Ruby V. Lawson (Seymour)'s Obituary
Ruby Viola Emma (Stiegemeyer) Lawson, daughter of William and Caroline (Kollmeyer) Stiegemeyer, was born April 11, 1918 in Diggins, Missouri. She departed this life surrounded by her family, on Friday, March 8, 2013 in Mercy Hospital, Springfield, Missouri, at the age of ninety-four years, ten months and twenty-five days.
On November 14, 1936, she was united in marriage to Hubert Eugene Lawson and to this union one daughter and two sons were born.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her loving husband of sixty-eight years, Hubert Lawson; her sister Erma Stiegemeyer and a baby brother.
Ruby is survived by her two sons, Gilbert Lawson and wife Katerina of Diggins, Missouri, Raymond Lawson and wife Pat of Springfield, Missouri; one daughter Sharron Welch and husband Kenneth of Ash Grove, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-one great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kay Bender and husband Ed of Cape Girardeau, Missouri and Lucille Boyle and husband Jim of the state of Alabama; one brother Harold Stiegemeyer and wife Marguarite of Springfield, Missouri; several nieces, nephews, as well as a host of other dear family and friends.
Born and raised in the Diggins area, Ruby put down her roots. She met and married Hubert and shortly after they made their home on their farm near Diggins. She worked at Diggins’ school lunch room for several years, then Goldie’s Mercantile.
Ruby made her profession of faith in Christ, raising up her children in the Lord. She was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church of Diggins, where she faithfully served over the years becoming the oldest living member of the church. Just two days before passing, Ruby was quilting at the Ladies Aide Quilting group. She found favor in working with her hands, giving warmth, love and encouragement with each stitch she made. Her quilts were carefully crafted for each of her children, her grandchildren and her great-grandchildren; a true legacy of love that she now leaves behind. Cooking, making her famous apple butter or serving big dinners for her family, church family and friends brought great joy for Ruby.
A Godly woman, with a generous heart, Ruby Lawson was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments, cherishing the memories she created for each of us. Although she will be deeply missed, we hold to the truth in our Lord Jesus Christ that we will meet again
Memorial Donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aide in care of the funeral home
