Ruby M. Johnson (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ruby Mae Johnson, daughter of William O. and Mary Lela Miles Lawson, was born June 3, 1931, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Thursday, February 17, 2011, in Christian Health Care North, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of seventy-nine years, eight months, and fourteen days.
On December 17, 1950, she was united in marriage to Carl Austin Johnson, and to this union three daughters and two sons were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Carl, on January 24, 1994; a son, Gary Johnson; two brothers, Bill and Jackie D. Lawson; and an infant sister, Betty Lawson.
Ruby is survived by a son, Dennis Johnson, and his wife, Jane, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Cornelia Dame, and her husband, David, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, Jackie Johnson and special friend Joyce Rogers, Carla Fohn, and her husband, Jeff, all of Lebanon, Missouri; nine grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two brothers, Jerry Lawson, of the State of Oregon, and Tom Lawson, of Lebanon, Missouri; five sisters, Louise Alyea, of the State of Washington, Joann Wright, of the state of Oregon, Beverly Parker, of the state of Oregon, Karen Allison, of Lebanon, Missouri, and Patricia Oursborne, of Richland, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon area. After she and Carl were married, they made their home in Lebanon and lovingly raised their children. Early in her life, Ruby worked at the Reliance Factory, which then became the Rice Stix Factory, and eventually for the H. D. Lee Company. For most of her life she was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family.
Ruby followed the Baptist faith throughout her life.
In her spare time she enjoyed playing Bingo, crocheting, jigsaw puzzles, and watching her favorite soap operas, “The Young and the Restless” and “Days of Our Lives”. She was an excellent cook and liked making lunch for her son and brothers each day. Her life was centered around her family and she especially enjoyed caring for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that she will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all of her family and friends.
