Ruby L. Skidmore (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ruby Lee Skidmore, daughter of Charles William “Charley” and Beaudie A. Maze Bloomer, was born August 6, 1924, in Jefferson City, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, October 16, 2013, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-nine years, two months, and ten days.
On December 29, 1945, she was united in marriage to Harrison Skidmore, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harrison, on March 26, 2005; a daughter, Donna Kaye Skidmore; one son, Billy Gene Skidmore; four brothers, Melvin “Roy”, Walter “Rip”, Howard William “ Tunnie” , and Bobby Glenn Bloomer; and six sisters, Edna Bloomer, Mildred Sternity, Ella Mae McKinney, Bonnie Jean Renn, Mary Louise Branch, and Wanda Darlene Isenhart.
Ruby is survived by a daughter-in-law, Wanda Skidmore, of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Dennis Skidmore, and his wife, Carla, of Montreal, Missouri, Donna Finney, and her husband, Donald, and James Skidmore, all of Lebanon, Missouri; eight great-grandchildren, Maranda, MaKayla, D.J., Darren, Brian, Hunter, Dillon, and Lexi; two great-great-grandchildren, Madison, and Billie Jo; a sister, Bette Bailey, of Kansas City, Missouri; a special neighbor and friend, Lesley Kelly, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Jefferson City, Missouri area. She then made her home in Pleasant Hope and in Springfield for most of her adult years. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her husband and family, Ruby also worked for the Lily Tulip Company for many years. After retiring, she and Harrison moved to Jefferson City, where Ruby worked as a cook for several years. In 1984, she and Harrison moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and Ruby worked as a cook in the Lebanon R-III Schools.
Ruby had made her profession of faith in Christ and attended Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon.
She enjoyed crocheting, cooking, and playing cards in her spare time. She always made her family the center of her life and especially enjoyed sharing time with all of her grandchildren.
Ruby was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them throughout the years.
