Russell Burney's Obituary
Russell Wayne Burney, son of James Russell and Helen Louise Bruner Burney, was born February 3, 1953, in Wichita, Kansas. He departed this life Friday, January 25, 2008, in St. John’s Hospital, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of fifty-four years, eleven months, and twenty-two days. On August 19, 1972, he was united in marriage to Carolyn Ann Crawford, and to this union three daughters and one son were born. His father and his maternal and paternal grandparents preceded him in death. Russell is survived by his loving wife, Carolyn, of the home; a son, Kevin Burney, and Lisa, of Lebanon, Missouri; three daughters, Jennifer Burney, and David, of Springfield, Missouri, and twins, Kimberly and Amber Burney, both of the home; four grandchildren, Abby Fisher, Lacy Scrivener, Wendell and Morgan Headley; a great-grandson, Dakota Scrivener; his mother, Louise Burney, of Lebanon, Missouri; a brother, Robert Burney, and his wife, Shelly, of Alva, Oklahoma; three sisters, Carolyn Sellers, and Carla Gibbs, and her husband, Donnie, all of Lebanon, Missouri, and Glenda Smith, and her husband, Jeff, of Phillipsburg, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many friends. He lived most of his life in the Lebanon, Missouri area. Shortly after Russell and Carolyn were married, they made their home near Lebanon, and lovingly raised their family. For several years, Russell had worked for Tracker Marine in Lebanon, and had also done automobile body work. Russell was a member of the South Highway Five Church of Christ in Lebanon. In his spare time he enjoyed roller skating, and greatly liked going to the car races at the I-44 Speedway, where he was a fan of the driver, Tony Jackson, Jr. He also enjoyed fishing and working on cars. His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed his grandchildren. Russell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. His family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them throughout the years. Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, January 28, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Sunday evening from 5 - 6:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri.
