Ruth E. Cook (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Ruth Elizabeth Cook, daughter of Edmund and Ruth Lee Durr, was born September 16, 1925, in Masontown, Pennsylvania. She departed this life Saturday, July 31, 2021, in Lebanon South Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of ninety-five years, ten months, and fifteen days.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son-in-law, Tom Painter; two brothers, Lee and Clayton Durr; and a sister, Jane Torrance.
Ruth is survived by a daughter, Janet Painter, of Claremore, Oklahoma; a son, Chris Cook, and his wife, Phebe, of Laquey, Missouri; three grandchildren, Christy Dieman, and her husband, Chase, Mindy Todd, and her husband, Chad, and Greg Painter; five great-grandchildren, Owen and Abby Dieman, Grady and Graham Todd, and Connor Painter; a brother, David Durr, of the State of Oregon; a sister, Naomi Babcock, of the State of Oregon; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in Pennsylvania, and then in 1941she moved with her family to Azusa, California, where she graduated from high school. While in California, she met her husband, Wayne Cook, through her brother, Lee, who was serving in the U.S. Marine Corps. with Wayne. She then moved to Winnipeg, Missouri, and began working at Walmart, then H. D. Lee Company, Fort Leonard Wood laundry, and lastly at Nebo General Store for several years. She was always a devoted homemaker to her family. She moved to Lebanon and volunteered at hospital before moving to the Falcon, Missouri area fifteen years ago. Ruth moved to Falcon to be near her granddaughter and her great-grandchildren.
Ruth had made her profession of faith in Christ and was a member of Mount Carney Christian Church where she attended services for as long as her health allowed.
She loved to cook and also liked doing crossword puzzles in her spare time. She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed having time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt, and was a caring friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her ninety-five years.
