Ruth Gatlin's Obituary
Ruth Ann Gatlin, daughter of Louie Gene Moore and Betty Jean Arnall, was born December 25, 1954 in Springfield, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, December 7, 2011 in Mountain Grove, Missouri at the age of fifty-six years, eleven months, and twelve days.
On April 18, 1981, Ruth Ann was united in marriage to Arthur D. Gatlin, Sr. and together they shared sixteen years until Arthur’s passing on March 31, 1996.
Ruth Ann was also preceded in death by her father, Louie Moore; and her step-mother, Ima Dean Moore.
She is survived by her children, Mary Ann Gatlin of Marionville, Missouri, Matt Gatlin of Hastings, Nebraska and Bruce Gatlin of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Jim Gatlin of Alton, Missouri, Arthur Gatlin, Jr. of Bolivar, Missouri, Danny Gatlin of Kansas City, Missouri, Debra Bailey of Bolivar, Missouri, Ruth Ellen Gatlin of Lees Summit, Missouri, and Teresa Townsend of Boonville, Arkansas; her mother, Betty Moore of Hartville, Missouri; her grandchildren, Nikki, David, Jayk, Kadie, Neil, Kayla, Tyler, Kallie, Shepherd, Allen, April, Autumn, McKenzie, Brandy, Gracie, Jake, Elizabeth, Amber, Aubri, Ryan, Aaron, Cody, Jennifer, Tyler, Nicole, Christopher, Daniel, Amber and Danielle; her brother, Ike Moore and wife Patsy of Hartville, Missouri; two sisters, Sheila Hazel and husband Rick of Hartville, Missouri, and Beverly Calton of Stoutland, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends.
Ruth Ann grew up and attended school in Hartville. Later, she spent time living in Kansas City before making Mountain Grove her home.
Ruth Ann worked at various jobs in her life including the Heilig-Meyers Furniture Company where she worked for five years, but the love of her life was ministry in her church.
Ruth Ann gave her life to the Lord in November 1973. She enjoyed going to church at Mountain Grove Baptist Temple, where she served as a Sunday School Teacher, sang in the choir, and spent four years working as the church Secretary and Clerk.
Ruth Ann later attended the Liberty Faith Church in Norwood, Missouri where she taught Sunday school and sang in the choir. She also served as a classroom monitor at Liberty Faith Christian School.
For a short time, Ann enjoyed singing with the Waymarks Band. Ruth Ann was a devoted homemaker and her life centered on her family. She cherished every minute spent with her children and worked hard to ensure that they had everything they needed to be the best that they could be.
Ruth Ann was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and many dear friends.
Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Saturday, December 10, 2011 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Hartville, Missouri.
Burial will follow in Moore Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 7-8:30 p.m. Friday evening in the funeral home.
