Ruth I. Rounds' Obituary
Ruth Irene Rounds, daughter of Henry H. and Viola Lint, was born May 29, 1923, in Ankeny, Iowa. She departed this life Friday, March 30, 2007, in her home, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, ten months, and one day. On February 2, 1946, she was united in marriage to Robert Parker Rounds, and together they shared thirty-seven years before his passing on November 11, 1983. Her parents, and two brothers, John and Frank Lint, also preceded her in death. Ruth is survived by two daughters, Rebecca Brushwood, of Lebanon, Missouri, and B. J. Abuhl, and her husband, Jacob, of Marysville, Washington; a son, Robert Rounds, of Des Moines, Iowa; fourteen grandchildren; nineteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Goldie Carpenter, of Ankeny, Iowa, and Lavern Manning, and her husband, James, of Altoona, Iowa; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Iowa, and graduated from Ankeny High School in the Class of 1940. After she and Bob were married, they made their home in Ohio for awhile before moving to the East Coast and settling in Maryland. In 1957, they returned to Iowa, where they made their home until moving to Lebanon, Missouri in the mid 1970’s. Throughout her life Ruth was a devoted homemaker and also worked outside the home at various different jobs for a number of years. Ruth made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was an active member of Hillcrest Baptist Church in Lebanon for many years. She had served as a Sunday school teacher, a kitchen worker, and as a Deacon’s wife. In her spare time she enjoyed painting, sewing, cooking, doing various kinds of craft projects, and growing beautiful flowers. She was a great listener and combined that with her concern for others to become a good marriage counselor. Her family was always foremost in her life and she especially enjoyed all of her grandchildren. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great-grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, April 3, 2007, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Lebanon. Burial will be in Mount Rose Memorial Park. Visitation will be held Monday evening from 7 - 8:30 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Lebanon, Missouri. Memorials to Hillcrest Baptist Church may be made through the funeral home.
