Ruth Potter's Obituary
Ruth E. Potter, daughter of Alonzo Loy and Minnie Jane Hare Preston was born November 7, 1919 in Sidney, Nebraska and departed this life September 29, 2009 at Glenwood Healthcare in Seymour, Missouri at the age of eighty-nine years, ten months and two days. On November 26, 1940 she was united marriage to Willie Ernest Potter and to this union five children were born. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Willie on December 7, 2003, daughter Wilma and several brothers and sisters. Ruth is survived by two sons, Don Potter and wife Virginia of Springfield, Missouri and Willie Potter of Norwood, Missouri; two daughters, Shirley Hudson of Houston, Alaska and Mary Miller of Mtn. Grove, Missouri; eleven grandchildren; several great and great great-grandchildren; other relatives and many friends. She was born in Nebraska, and then moved to Colorado where she and Willie made their first home. In 1952, they moved to Thornfield, Missouri, and then to Ava, Missouri, before making their home in Norwood, Missouri. Ruth made her profession of faith in Christ and was of the Baptist faith. She loved cooking for her family and in her spare time she enjoyed embroidering. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, great-great grandmother and aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for us. Graveside services & burial will be held at 10:00am on Friday October 2, 2009 at the Brushy Knob Cemetery. Visitation will be Thursday evening 6-7:00pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Mansfield, Missouri. Return to top
