Ruth Robertson's Obituary
Ruth Janie Robertson, daughter of Harrison O. and Mary Elizabeth (Livingston) Lowery, was born October 11, 1924, near Albany, Georgia. She departed this life Sunday, August 10, 2008, in Samaritan Hospital, in Macon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-three years, nine months and twenty-nine days. On November 25, 1959 she was united in marriage to Carl Gene Robertson, in Atlanta, Georgia. Together they spent almost forty-six wonderful years until his passing on November 9, 2005. She was also preceded in death by a son, Butch Hamlin, in 1963; her parents; a sister, Mary Carter; and three brothers Grover, J.B., and Horace Lowery. Ruth is survived by a son, Greg Robertson, and his wife, Teresa, of Macon, Missouri; a daughter, Betty Long, and her husband, Matthew, of Davie, Florida; three grandchildren, Caleb, Jacob, and Kyle Robertson; one great-granddaughter, Erissa Robertson; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. She was born and raised in Georgia and spent all of her childhood there. Then after she met and married Carl, while he was stationed in Georgia, they remained there for two years before being transferred to the Panama Canal Zone. They then moved to Florida, where she did volunteer work for children in need. After Carl’s retirement in 1971 they moved to Missouri in the Durbin Community to dairy farm. Then after Carl’s death in 2005, she moved to Macon to be closer to her family, due to her health. Ruth had made her profession of faith in Christ and had attended Hartville Methodist Church. She was a member of the Rebeka’s and many other various clubs and organizations. She centered her life on her family and loved caring and cooking for them. In her spare time she enjoyed fishing, sewing, crocheting, and playing Bridge. She was also an avid bowler in her younger years. Ruth was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 6:00 pm on Wed. August 13., 2008 at the Holman- Howe Funeral Home, Hartville. Burial will be at 2:30 pm Friday August 15, 2008 in the Missouri Veterans Cemetery under the direction of the Holman- Howe Funeral Home Hartville, Missouri. Return to top
