Ruth G Starnes (Lebanon) 's Obituary
Ruth Grace Starnes, 86, of Independence, Missouri, departed this life Friday, August 17, 2018. The daughter of Jesse and Eva (Bingham) Wilson, Ruth was born March 11, 1932 in Falcon, Missouri, where she grew up in the Crossroads Community. She was a member of Crossroads Baptist Church and loved to sing hymns.
On November 17, 1951, she was united in marriage to Terry Starnes and to this union two sons and two daughters were born. After she and Terry were married, they made their home in the Lebanon area. In 1967, they moved to Independence, Missouri, where Ruth was a cook at Fort Osage High School for ten years.
Ruth loved her family and was a devoted homemaker. She enjoyed cooking, walking, flowers, and going to garage sales. She will be greatly missed.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Terry; two brothers, Dale and Von Wilson; five sisters, Elva Beal, Verba Gregory, Nadean Cromer, Ruby Elam, and Bertha Myers; as well as one great-granddaughter Faith Schneider.
Ruth is survived by her two sons, Jimmy Starnes and wife Mary Lou, of Leeton, Missouri, and Kevin Starnes and Julie, of Leavenworth, Kansas; two daughters, Connie Miller and husband Gary, of Enid, Oklahoma, and Rita Collins and husband Phil, of Independence, Missouri; twelve grandchildren; twenty-five great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; two brothers, Farrell and Luther Wilson, both of Lebanon, Missouri; two sisters, Hazel Keen of Independence, Missouri and Margie Snider, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host of other relatives and dear friends.
Ruth was a loving mother, sister, grandmother, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her long life and many accomplishments and will treasure the many wonderful memories she has created for her family and friends.
Memorial contributions to Crossroads Cemetery, may be left at the funeral home.
