Ruth Torrey (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Ruth Ellen Torrey, age 89, passed away on May 1, 2026, at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility in Stockton, Missouri. She was the devoted wife of Neal R. Torrey for 66 years, until his passing on August 5, 2023.Ruth was born on December 2, 1936, in Stockton, Missouri, where she was raised and completed her early education at Stockton High School. She went on to earn a degree in accounting from the University of Missouri, laying the foundation for a long and distinguished professional career.She served as a Certified Public Accountant in Grand Rapids, Michigan from 1960 to 1973, after which she established her own CPA practice in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, where she practiced from 1973 to 1988. Upon returning to Missouri, she continued her practice independently in Stockton and later Bolivar, serving her clients with dedication and integrity until her retirement in 2024.Ruth was a woman of steadfast Christian faith, an active member of churches throughout every chapter of her life, and a longtime member of Bolivar Christian Church in her final years. She had a lifelong love of sports, including softball and bowling, and a deep and abiding passion for horses, which she owned, bred, raised, trained, and rode over many years.She was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Krischel, and her husband, Neal R. Torrey. She is survived by her son, Kevin R. Torrey, and his wife, Ami Torrey.Ruth Ellen Torrey will be remembered as a woman of faith, professional accomplishment, and enduring strength of character.Memorial Services will be held Saturday, June 6, 2026 at 1:00 PM at Butler Funeral Home, Bolivar, MO
