Ruth Van Ness (Seymour)'s Obituary
Ruth E Van Ness, 99 of Seymour, Mo. passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2016 at Glenwood Healthcare of Seymour, Mo. after a brief illness.
Ruth was born on May 9, 1917 to Silas and Willa (Tarbutton) Matney. Ruth was one of 9 children. Ruth married Vincent N. Van Ness on March 17, 1939 in Seymour, Mo. and they were blessed with 5 children.
Ruth served as chairperson for OATS and as vice president for Seymour Senior Housing for many years. She also enjoyed crocheting, plastic canvas needlework, embroidery, cooking and spending time with family and friends.
Ruth is survived by her daughter Patricia Davis, Davenport, Ia., son William Van Ness, Stillwater, Ok., daughter-in-law Donnie(Simmons) Van Ness, Titusville, Fl., 9 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 1 great-great grandchild, 1 brother Leonard Matney of Seymour, Mo. and many nieces and nephews.
Ruth was preceded in death by her husband Vincent, daughters Myrna Darlene and Vesla Lorene, and son Vincent Jr., her parents, brothers William, Warren, Donald and sisters Anna, Alice, Dorothy and Maxine.
Memorial service will be held on Thursday, April 6, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. with visitation 1 hour prior to service. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family.
The family would like to thank Glenwood Healthcare and Hospice for caring for Ruth over the past months.
