Sally A. Stewart (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Mrs. Sally Ann Stewart of Bolivar and Tucson, Ariz., died Nov. 16, 2012 in Oro Valley Hospital in Oro Valley, AZ after a two-year battle with leukemia. She was born in Bolivar, MO on February 4, 1935 and was the daughter of Ralph A. Day and Evelyn (Atkinson) Day, who preceded her in death.
She is the wife of Gary Stewart and mother of Stacy Cravens and husband Sherman, Kelly Kennedy and husband David and Christy Mills and husband Michael. Also her four grandchildren, Shannon, Kelsey, Stephen and Stewart Kennedy.
She graduated from Kirkwood High School in St. Louis in 1953 and Southwest Missouri State College in 1957. For 27 years, she was known as “Mrs. Art” to the many students at Leonard Elementary School in Bolivar where she taught.
She was a member of the P.E.O. Delta Kappa Gamma Twenty Club and Phi Kappa Sigma at SMSU. She also was a member of the First Christian Church Choir for many years.
Besides her parents, she also was preceded in death by her brother, Donald Day; a niece, Lisa Lawrence; and a brother-in-law, Bob Lawrence.
Other survivors include her sister, Margaret Lawrence; a nephew, Jerry Lawrence and wife Brenda; her nieces, Julie Viger and husband Dennis and Valerie Lawrence and partner Stephanie Miller; and her aunt, Jeanne Gamble.
A Visitation: 5-7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 23, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar
A Celebration of Life Service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 24, at Butler Funeral Home, Bolivar with Pastor Patty Case officiating.
Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar. Casketbearers will be Charles Long, Ben Thomas, Nick Maas, Jim Davolt, David Nance and Bill Jones. Services under the care and
