Sam Nelson (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Samuel Edward-Michael Nelson, 16, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away Wednesday, April 19, 2017.
Samuel’s life began as a gracious gift from God. Born on April 18, 2001 to Steven and Stephanie Nelson, Sam was a miracle baby. Over the next 16 years, Sam shared himself with everyone he met. He was quick with a smile and a friendly conversation, and everyone who crossed his path would say the same.
Sam loved being outdoors with a reel or a rifle. He was an avid hunter who loved the pursuit of anything with four legs or two, on the ground or in the air. Sam also enjoyed fishing, and was always in the mood to sit by the water and patiently wait for something to tug on the line. This love made Sam particularly proud to be a charter member of the Bolivar Fishing Team.
When he wasn’t hunting or fishing, Sam loved to play football. He had planned to continue playing as a Liberator in the Fall. If he wasn’t outside, Sam loved to watch old Western movie with his grandpa.
Sam had looked forward to continuing his love of welding. He was a gifted craftsman, with the work ethic and boundless energy necessary to get the job done. Sam was also a very dependable worker and friend who was willing to lend a hand to whomever might ask.
Sam made his personal profession of faith at a young age, and lived a life that showed his relationship with the Lord. A gift from God, Sam will always be dearly remembered and loved.
Sam was preceded in death by his uncle Michael, who passed a month before Sam was born, and who Sam was named after. He is also preceded by his great grandpa Arnett.
Sam is survived by his parents, Steven and Stephanie Nelson, and his brother, Simon Nelson. He is also survived by paternal grandparents, Tom and Bonnie Nelson, and his maternal grandparents, Harry and Sandra Moore. Sam is also survived by his Aunt Debbie and Uncle Mark Dillman, Aunt Holly and Uncle Bill Braden, Uncle Vernon and Aunt Amy Moore, and Aunt Rose Moore; as well as many cousins, including, Katie Dillman, Ben Dillman, Nadia Cruth, Stefan Moore, Hannah Braden, Halley Braden, and his loving dog, Isabel.
Funeral Services for Sam Nelson will be held Sunday, April 23, 2017 at 3:00 PM in Pike Auditorium on the campus of SBU under the direction of the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, MO.
