Samuel Green (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Samuel Forest Green, son of Fred and Myrtle Satterfield Green, was born February 16, 1928, near Phillipsburg, Missouri.  He departed this life Saturday, May 4, 2013, in his home, near Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of eighty-five years, two months, and eighteen days.
On April 7, 1948, he was united in marriage to Dorothy Edith Strangulies, and to this union two daughters and one son were born.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and a son, Stephen Forest Green.
Samuel is survived by his loving wife of sixty-four years, Dorothy, of the home; two daughters, Chris Stalhood, and her husband, Calvin, of Phillipsburg, Missouri, and Barbara Thompson, and her husband, Johnny, of Fairhope, Alabama; six grandchildren, Carl, Craig, Curt, Skylar, Erica, and Andrew; six great-grandchildren; a sister, Blanch McGee, and her husband, Leroy, of Fort Wayne, Indiana; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
He was born and raised in the Phillipsburg community, and attended Dry and Dusty School.  He entered the military as a young man, and served his country faithfully for twenty-four years in the United States Air Force.  He had tours of duty in Germany, Africa, and Italy, and served Stateside in California, Michigan, Texas, and Idaho.  After retiring from the Air Force as a Master Sergeant on May 31, 1970, he and Dorothy made their home in Sacramento, California, where he worked at an Army Depot for several years.  He also worked as a gas station attendant for a time.  Sam and Dorothy moved to Lebanon about two years ago.
Samuel had attended Bear Thicket Church, near Phillipsburg, Missouri.
In his spare time he enjoyed bowling, and watching sporting events on television, particularly tennis.  He also liked watching the Summer and Winter Olympics.  He possessed a delightful sense of humor and loved to laugh and sing.  His family was very important to him and he especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Samuel was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend.  We celebrate his life and his accomplishments and will remember him as a devoted family man, a courageous military man, and a patriotic American.
