Samuel "Nick" Mass (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Samuel Nicholas 'Nick' Maas, age 79 of Bolivar went home to be with the lord on Thursday Morning, January 29, 2015 at the Parkview Health Care Facility in Bolivar after a long illness. Nick was born February, 18, 1935 in Springfield, MO to Joseph Leonard and Pauline Hamilton Maas.
He graduated from Bolivar High School in 1953 and attended Drury College where he was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity. He graduated from Drury with a degree in Geology in 1958. At Drury he met the love of his life, Jobeth Ellis, and had two children, Nick and Becky.
Nick was a master mechanic and builder. He owned Maas and Sons Quarry with his father, Leonard and later Maas and Son Welding with his son Nick. He was a lifelong Member of the First Christian Church of Bolivar where he served as an Elder. He was a scholar of the Bible and taught adult Sunday school for more than 50 years. Nick has a special interest in guns and shooting. He was a lifetime member of the National Rifle Association and taught numerous young people gun safety and hunting skills ( with a few life lessons along the way). He competed on the state and national levels in black powder, traps, skeet and sporting clays and with several Championships.
He leaves behind his beloved wife of 55 years, Jobeth; his son, Nick and his wife Kathy; his daughter, Becky and her husband Terry. He also leaves his five grandchildren he adored, Hannah, Sarah, and Sam Davisdon of Oklahoma City and Katelyn and Samuel Maas of Bolivar, MO. He also leaves his sister, Carolyn Adams and her three children and grandchildren.
