Samuel Winters (Mansfield)'s Obituary
“Sam” Samuel Pierce Winters was born July 6, 1956, in New Orleans, Louisiana, to Samuel Pierce Winters and Margaret Marie (Gano) Winters. He spent a little time in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Then as a child, he was brought to Douglas County, Missouri to be raised. He lived between Douglas and Wright County most of his life, but did some traveling also. He departed this world April 20, 2018, at Rocky Ridge Health Care and Rehab, Mansfield, MO., with the help and care of Preferred Hospice. Both companies loving people and care is and was appreciated.
Sam attended Ava School and In 1973, Sam survived a bad car wreck, in which his friend Jerry Gillespie was killed. Sam was paralyzed on his right side and later he had Spinal Meningitis which affected his speech. Sam was determined to over-come and keep his independence.
Sam was married only for one year to Elaine Gillespie.
Sam loved his family and friends and they loved him. Sam liked to mechanic and tinkered on cars and trucks. He enjoyed playing cards with his brother-in-law Ray Brazeal, go fishing with his brother-in-law Terry Brazeal, and to go hunting (especially Deer hunting). He raised 2 horses and loved them until they passed away, and he did enjoy spending time with family and friends.
Sam was preceded in death by his parents: Samuel Pierce Winters and Margaret Marie Frye, Step-mother: Shirley V. (Snodgrass) (Laurie) Winters, Step-father: Ira Freeman Frye, and Step-brother: Nathan Laurie.
Sam is survived by 3 sisters: Rose M. and her husband Ray Brazeal, Maryanne Brazeal, and Shirley S. Winters, half-brother Aaron W. D. Winters and his wife Michelle, 1 step-sister: Sabrina and her husband Mark Robinson, 1 niece: Marie and her husband James Bloodworth and their 4 children, 7 nephews: James Brazeal, Bobby Brazeal and his wife Megan and their 2 children, Vernon Brazeal and his wife Crystal and their 4 children, Tom R. Brazeal and his 3 children, Jerry Brazeal and his wife Joanne and their 2 children, John A. Brazeal with Mindy and their 4 children, and Terry J. Brazeal and his 2 children, the Brazeal family, the Gillespie family, and other family and friends.
A memorial service for friends and family to remember and honor Sam will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 28, 2018, at the American Legion Post 128, Mansfield, MO.
