Scharlene Knapp's Obituary
charlene Mathews Knapp, daughter of Mark B. and Pauline Jenkins Mathews, was born June 4, 1937, near Long Lane, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, July 9, 2008, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of seventy-one years, one month, and five days. On August 29, 1956, she was united in marriage to Billy Dale Knapp, and to this union three sons were born. She was preceded in death by her parents; and a sister, Pam Mathews. Scharlene is survived by her loving husband of fifty-one years, Rev. Bill, of the home; three sons, Randy Knapp, and his wife, Carrie, Rodney Knapp, and his wife, Shelly, and Reggie Knapp, all of Long Lane, Missouri; five grandchildren, Adam Knapp, Kristin Knapp, Matthew Knapp, Brooke Knapp, and Jacob Knapp; four brothers, John Mathews, and his wife, Joyce, of Lebanon, Missouri, Doug Mathews, and his wife, Jo, Mark Mathews, Jr., and Dwight Mathews, and his wife, Charlene, all of Long Lane, Missouri; five sisters, Betty Sue Cook, and her husband, Ron, Donna Keith, and her husband, Duane, all of Lebanon, Missouri, Shirley Hendrix, of Marshfield, Missouri, Sharon Talbott, and her husband, Dan, of Conway, Missouri, and Brenda Turner, and her husband, Jackie, of Long Lane, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many, many friends. She was born and raised in the Long Lane community and graduated from Buffalo High School. After she and Bill were married, they made their home in the Long Lane area and lovingly raised their sons. In addition to being a devoted homemaker to her family, Scharlene also worked at the Rice Stix Factory and then at H. D. Lee Company for a total of thirty years. Scharlene made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was an active member of Dallas County Community Church. She was a very supportive minister’s wife and helped Bill anyway that she could. She always liked to be busy, was an excellent seamstress and enjoyed cooking for her family and friends. Her family was very important to her and she especially loved her grandchildren. Scharlene was a loving wife, mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring Christian lady and friend to all who met her. We celebrate her life and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Funeral services for Scharlene Knapp will be Saturday July 12, 2008 in the Holman- Howe Funeral Home. . Burial will be in the Cedar Ridge Cemetery. Friends may call at their convenience.
