Scott Bastion's Obituary
Scott Clifford Bastion, age 97, of Bolivar, Missouri passed away on Thursday evening, June 4, 2009 at the Golden Living Center in Jefferson City, Missouri. He was born September 16, 1911 in Pittsburg, Missouri to Charles E. Bastion and Rosa Rosie Carolina Luttrell. On August 1, 1930 he married Ruth Elizabeth Mabry in Tuscumbia, Missouri. Scott was a farmer for 90 years, give or take. He attended the Antioch Christian Church in Pittsburg, Missouri. He enjoyed watching basketball games and boxing matches, coon hunting, squirrel hunting, the Cardinals baseball team, he liked people and enjoyed children. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ruth, a brother, Nick Bastion and two sisters, Mary Durnell and Hesper Fellers. Scott is survived by two sons, Donnie Bastion of Meta, Missouri, Charles Bastion of Clever, Missouri, three grandchildren, Debra Lutgen, Tiffanie Meyer, Scottie Bastion and five great grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 11:00am, Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri with Reverend Gray Nordan officiating. Musical selections will be The Old Rugged Cross, Amazing Grace, and I'll Fly Away by Lavonna Franklin with Chris Franklin playing the piano. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery in Bolivar, Missouri. Visitation will be from 10:00-11:00am Tuesday prior to service time at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Garland Jenkins, Mel Jenkins, Jim Kirby, Chester Bastion, Ted McCarty and Sam McCarty.
