Scotty Wayne Embrey's Obituary
cotty Wayne Embrey, son of Charles R. and Donna Faye (Cornelius) Embrey, was born June 11, 1955 in Springfield, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, April 29, 2008 in his home in Seymour, Missouri at the age of fifty-two years, ten months, and eighteen days. On December 30, 1995, Scotty was united in marriage to Karen Lynn Burns, and to this union a daughter, Misty Dawn, and a son, Zackary Scott, were born. Scotty was preceded in death by his father-in-law, Ronald Russell Burns; and two uncles, Herbert Cornelius and Jack Griechen. He is survived by his loving wife, Karen, of the home; his children, Misty Dawn Embrey and Zackary Scott Embrey, both of the home; his father and mother, Charles and Donna Embrey, of Seymour, Missouri; a brother, Eugene Embrey and his wife, Kathy, of Seymour, Missouri; a sister, DeAnn Gunter, and her husband Tom, of Ava, Missouri; two nephews, Josh Embrey and Chad Embrey and his fiancée, Larissa Clemens, all of Seymour, Missouri; two nieces, Lesley Potter and her husband Lynel, and Lori Gunter, all of Ava, Missouri; a great-niece, Maggey Potter; his mother-in-law, Helen H. Burns, of Greeley, Colorado; four uncles, Kenneth Embrey, and his wife Lucy, of Rogersville, Missouri, Clyde Embrey, and his wife Betty, of Springfield, Missouri, Howard Cornelius, and his wife Mary Lou, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Leslie Cornelius, Jr. of Seymour, Missouri; three aunts, Maudena Griechen, of Seymour, Missouri, Lois Goss, and her husband Herbert, of Fort Worth, Texas, and Lilly Norris, and her husband, Joel, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of cousins; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. Scotty was born and raised in Seymour and graduated from Seymour High School in the Class of 1974. He lived his entire life in Seymour where he had a cattle farm and had worked with his dad in the Head Apple Orchards. After he and Karen were married they made their home on the farm and lovingly cared for their children. In addition to caring for his farm, he also worked in the maintenance department at the Seymour RII Schools. He had accepted Christ as his Savior and was baptized by Reverend Mark Terrill. In his spare time he enjoyed being outdoors, checking his cattle and hunting for deer. He especially loved spending time with his children. Scotty was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle, and nephew, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories he created for his family and many dear friends. Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 3, 2008, in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home, Seymour. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held Friday evening from 7 - 8:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Seymour, Missouri. Memorials to his children may be made through the funeral home.
