Seighfried Watson's Obituary
Seighfried Esley Watson, son of Andrew Francis and Hollie Mae (Geren) Watson, was born September 29, 1927, in Seymour, Missouri. He departed this life Tuesday, August 4, 2009, in his home in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of eighty-one years, ten months, and six days. On December 12, 1947, he was united in marriage to Peggy Louise Bradshaw and to this union eight children were born. He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Robert and Doug Watson; a daughter-in-law, LeAnn Watson; his third wife, Margaret in 2004; four brothers, Wayne, Arlie, Warren, and Gene Watson. Seighfried is survived by his children, Frank Watson and his wife, Linda, of Strafford, Missouri, Steve Watson and his wife, Jean, and Seighfried Watson Jr. and his wife, Jan, all of Springfield, Missouri, Mike Watson and his wife, Debbie, of Huntsville, Arkansas, Nancy Barnes and her husband, Leland, of Ava, Missouri, and Bill Watson, of Kansas City, Missouri; twenty-two grandchildren; forty-one great-grandchildren; three step-children, Nancy Mattingly of Jonesboro, Arkansas, Eddie Dougan, and Cherry Hunt, both of Gardner, Kansas; a number of step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Geraldine Geren and DeLois Lam and her husband, Bob, all of Pryor, Oklahoma; a sister-in-law, Alberta Watson, of Seymour, Missouri; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many dear friends. He grew up in Seymour and entered the United States Army in 1946 and served his country faithfully until his honorable discharge in 1947. He returned to Seymour following his service time to help his father on the farm. After he and Peggy were married, they moved to the Kansas City area where he worked for the Bendix Corporation as a Quality Control Supervisor for several years. He moved back to the Seymour and Fordland area to make his home following his marriage to Margaret, and in 2004 they moved to Springfield. Seighfried had accepted Christ as his Lord and Savior at an early age and was a member of the Fordland First Baptist Church. He was also a member of the Elks Lodge # 409 and American Legion Post # 676 in Springfield. In his spare time he enjoyed dancing and playing cards. He loved his farm life and hunting with his family. The time he spent with his family was very special and important to him and he especially liked going to the family reunions. Seighfried was a wonderful father, grandfather, step-father, step-grandfather, brother, uncle, and a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and accomplishments and will cherish the precious memories he created for his family and friends. Services will be held at 11:00am on Friday August 7, 2009 in the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Burial will be in the Seymour Masonic Cemetery. Visitation is Thursday evening 7-8:30 pm at the funeral home under the direction of the Holman-Howe Funeral Home Seymour, Missouri. Return to top
