Selma Christina Nelson (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Selma Christina Nelson passed away on Saturday, April 20, 2024, at Lake Stockton Healthcare Facility in Stockton, Missouri, at the age of 94.
She was born on December 31, 1929, in Bazaar, Kansas to the late Henry and Martha Brecht of Strong City, Kansas. She was the youngest of nine children, all who have preceded her in death.
Selma graduated from Strong City High School and was married to Charles Nelson on May 25, 1947, and to this union, 6 children were born: five daughters and one son.
Selma and Charles were married for 44 years until his passing in 1991.
Throughout her life, Selma was a loving mother and homemaker who loved spending time with her family. In her spare time, she enjoyed crocheting and needle work.
In later years, she worked as a Certified Nurse's Assistant for Citizens Memorial Hospital.
She was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
Selma was preceded in death by one daughter, Mildred Marie Jean.
She is survived by 5 children; Darlene Hedding and husband Gene of Hermitage, Missouri, Joyce Phegley and Husband Larry of Vincennes, Indiana, Carol Stone and husband Bob of Elsberry, Missouri, Terry Rector and Companion Darrell Oakley of Jasper, Missouri, Charles Grant Nelson Jr. and companion Anjeanette Babb of Fair Play, Missouri; 16 grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM on Thursday, April 25, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 AM on Friday, April 26, 2024, at Butler Funeral Home.
Burial will follow at Hartley Cemetery.
