Shane Reid (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Fines Stanly Shane Reid was born August 9, 1978 in Ukiah, California and departed this life on May 14, 2013 in Springfield, Missouri at the age of thirty-four years, nine months and five days.
Shane was united in marriage to Dannette Sickels on June 11, 2010. They shared a special love that was evident by their playful nature and the way they enjoyed every moment they shared together.
He was preceded in death by an aunt and uncle, Robin and Bob Moroni who lost their lives in a tornado and another uncle, Andy Heathman.
Shane is survived by his wife, Dannette of the home; his son, Kendall Reid of Bolivar, Missouri, parents, Barney and Sherry Vogel of Humansville, Missouri; four brothers, Mike Reid and his wife Sherry of Buffalo, Missouri, B.J. Vogel and his wife Samantha of Joplin, Missouri, Dennis Vogel of Joplin, Missouri and Bryce Vogel of Humansville, Missouri; maternal grandparents, Ronald and Betty Heathman of Urbana, Missouri; his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Sickels of Mansfield, Missouri; numerous nieces and nephews all of whom he adored as well as many cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Shane was born in California and moved with his family to Oregon before moving to Missouri twenty-two years ago. He attended school in Weaubleau, Missouri and was an over the road truck driver.
He loved hunting, fishing and just being outdoors. Shane often referred to himself as a “hick-a-billy”. He would say he wasn’t a hick or a hillbilly, he was a little bit of both. In his spare time, he collected spittoons and model trains. Shane also enjoyed “big boy toys”. The more chrome and the higher the lift kit the better. Shane was a big kid at heart and because of this he related well to the kids in his life. The kids will hold lots of memories of Shane, such as, wrestling, playing and making life fun.
Shane was a loving husband, father, son, brother, uncle and a caring neighbor and friend. We are shocked at his sudden passing but will hold on to those wonderful memories and time spent with him forever.
