Shantel Jenkins (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Mae Shantel Sutton Jenkins, daughter of Wayne and Kathey Barlett Sutton, was born July 15, 1977, in Lancaster, South Carolina. She departed this life Friday, June 25, 2010, in Missouri Baptist Hospital, St. Louis, Missouri, at the age of thirty-two years, eleven months and 10 days.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents, James P. and Arvree Sutton, and an uncle, Kenneth Hobbs.
Shantel is survived by her daughter, McKynze Cheyenne Nykkole Sutton, of Yorktown, Virginia; her mother, Kathey Craig of Yorktown, Virginia, and her husband, James, of Mansfield, Missouri; a sister, Crystal Arvree Sutton, of Hampton, Virginia; two brothers, John W. Sutton and his wife, Jessica, of Madisonville, Tennessee, and Erik L. Sutton and his wife, Melanie, of Mansfield, Missouri; maternal grandparents, James and Zola McInnis, of Fort Mill, South Carolina; a niece, Kynleigh Dale Jenkins; a nephew, Chace Christopher Sutton; aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends.
At the age of twelve she moved from South Carolina to Mansfield, Missouri. Shantel lived in and around the Mansfield area until going into a nursing facility in the St. Louis area in 2006, but Mansfield was always home to her.
She was baptized as a young girl at Northside Baptist Church in Lancaster, South Carolina, and recently had been attending church services in the facility she resided in.
Most of Shantel’s working years were spent waitressing, a job she loved.
In her spare time she enjoyed cross stitching, embroidery, crocheting and reading. She especially enjoyed the time she spent with her daughter, McKynze, and her brothers and sister.
Shantel will be remembered as the girl with the beautiful smile, the kind heart and the quick wit. She always had the ability to make people laugh no matter what the circumstances were.
Shantel will be dearly missed by a plethora of relatives and friends.
