Nancy Bachmann
Sherri and I first met in about 1972 when we were neighbors in Windsor, CA. Shortly after her family moved down the road, she and Jimmy and Denae, who were about 2 and 4 yrs old, walked down to our house and she introduced herself and said she had something to ask me. She sounded so serious, that I thought she was going to ask me
to babysit her kids for a week, but she only wanted to know what time the mail was delivered to the mailboxes at the end of the road! That was the beginning of a friendship that lasted to this day, even though she was living in Missouri and my family moved to Oregon. One thing I have to remember her by is her cheesecake recipe, which I have been making for decades.
Sherri was a woman of depth who was a loving mother and a faithful friend. We still
shared some good laughs over some of our crazy memories in Windsor. My son was
enamoured of her when he was small and called her Sherri Good Looking. When our family went down to their house in the evening and we adults played cards or board games, we would put our kids to down in Sherri and Mark's bed and my son would always want to lay on Sherri's side of the bed. He recognized what a good person she was!
We would call each other several times a year and I recently realized that we hadn't talked for awhile, so tried to call, but was unsuccessful. Knowing that she had been
in poor health for years, I feared the worst and this morning decided to do some investigating and was heartbroken to find that she had passed away on my daughter's birthday.
I will miss you, my dear friend, and I'm so glad that we always told each other "I love you" when we talked.
Your loving friend Nancy, Scott and Dana
