Sharon Lynn Maxwell's Obituary
Sharon Lynn Maxwell, daughter of Shelley and Ruth Mixon Lemmons, was born May 24, 1940, in Pineville, Louisiana. She departed this life Monday, March 6, 2006, in Cox Medical Center South, in Springfield, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, nine months, and twelve days. On May 26, 1984, she was united in marriage to Richard Maxwell, and together they shared the last twenty-one years. Her parents, and a granddaughter, Angela Brezinski, preceded her in death. Sharon is survived by her husband, Richard, of the home; three daughters, Regina Sanderson, of Pineville, Louisiana, Melissa Bailey, of Mansfield, Missouri, and Michelle Maxwell, of Mountain Grove, Missouri; three great-granddaughters; two step-grandchildren; a sister, Joyce Holt, of Pineville, Louisiana; as well as a host of other relatives and friends. She was born and raised in Louisiana, where she graduated from high school and earned her Bachelors Degree in Education. During the 1960’s, she was the first Caucasian teacher in the all Black Booker T. Washington High School in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was an art instructor for fifteen years, and was a juvenile detention worker in Pineville, Louisiana for several years. She later moved to Texas, where she met and married Richard. They eventually moved to Missouri and for the last few years had made their home in Mansfield. Once again, Sharon was a juvenile detention worker in Mountain Grove, Missouri for a few years. Sharon had made her profession of belief in Christ and followed the Baptist faith. In her spare time she enjoyed cooking and liked making special recipes for her family and friends. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandchildren. Sharon was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and sister, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends. Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, March 9, 2006, in the Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Burial will be in the Mcomb Cemetery. Visitation will be held Wednesday evening from 6 - 7:00 p.m. under the direction of Holman-Howe Funeral Home of Mansfield, Missouri.
