Shawn David Parker (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Shawn David Parker, son of Terry Wayne and Cheryl Anne Johnson Parker, was born February 26, 1969, in Benson, Arizona. He departed this life Sunday, November 13, 2016, in the Harry S. Truman Veterans Hospital, in Columbia, Missouri, at the age of forty-seven years, eight months, and seventeen days.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Ariel P. and Gladys Faye Cross Johnson; his paternal grandparents, Marvin and Hazel R. McCraw Parker; and a cousin, Richard Dale Matthews.
Shawn is survived by two sons, Cody Delaine Parker, of Mesa, Arizona, and Kale Robert Parker, of Sierra Vista, Arizona; his parents, Terry Parker, of Sierra Vista, Arizona, and Cheryl Parker, of Tucson, Arizona; two brothers, Tyler Parker, of Flagstaff, Arizona, and Russell Parker, of Sierra Vista, Arizona; four sisters, Tammy Ahrens, Jodi Grindy, Tana Parker, and Jamie Parker, all of Sierra Vista, Arizona; a number of nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and many good friends.
He was raised in Sierra Vista, Arizona, and graduated from Buena High School. He served his country faithfully in the United States Army from 1988 until being honorably discharged in 1991. He received several decorations, awards, and medals, including the Southwest Asia Service Medal with two Bronze Service Stars and an Overseas Service Ribbon. He also was recognized as an expert marksman. He then moved to Colorado, where he graduated first in his class from Colorado Technical Institute with an emphasis in Avionics. He returned to Sierra Vista where he worked as the office manager for Stan’s Fence Company for ten years. He later moved to the Falcon, Missouri area where he made his home for the last eighteen months.
Shawn made his profession of faith in Christ and was baptized at the Cowboy Church near Sierra Vista, Arizona.
He was a member of the D.A.V., the American Legion, the Oath Takers, and was a Life Endowment Member of the N.R.A. He was a talented blacksmith and was an artist with the Blacksmith’s Association of North America, and Blacksmith’s Association of Missouri. He enjoyed making both decorative and useful items from metal that he sold and gave away. He had been a member of the Boy Scouts of America, and enjoyed camping. He also liked shooting, doing woodworking projects, and spending time with his dog “Ike”. His family was very important to him, and he had established many wonderful friendships through the years.
Shawn was a loving father, son, brother, uncle, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate his life and know that his family and friends will treasure the wonderful memories he made for them during his lifetime.
