Sheila Matlock (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Sheila Jo Matlock, daughter of Joe Harris and Lois McIntosh Harris, was born August 8, 1950 in Springfield, Missouri and departed this life on February 18, 2021 at Cox South Medical Center in Springfield, Missouri at the age of seventy years, six months, and ten days.
She was united in marriage to Richard Matlock and to this union two children were born. Richard preceded her in death on February 21, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her parents, grandson, Thomas Matlock, brother, Randy Harris, and daughter-in-law, Angela Matlock.
Sheila is survived by a son, Bryan of Mansfield; daughter, Launa Boatman and husband, Robert Eric Boatman, of Springfield; four grandchildren, Isabella Boatman, Lillian Boatman, Bryce Matlock, and McKenzie Matlock; two nephews, Mike Carter and Joey Harris; three sisters-in-law, Pamela Harris, Sondra Gray and husband, David, and Teresa Letsinger and husband, John; two brothers-in-law, Wendel Matlock and wife, Susan, and Leland Matlock and wife, Fran; other relatives and many friends.
She was born in Mansfield and attended Mansfield Schools. In 1967, she and Richard lived in Germany where Richard was stationed in the United States Army and that is where Bryan was born. After returning to Mansfield, Sheila started a 20 year career at H.D. Lee Plant being an engineer for many years as well as plant manager at the Big Smith and CBA plants. She was the Clerk for the City of Mansfield for many years before retiring. She was vice-president and president of the South Central Division of Missouri City Clerks and Finance Officers Associations. In 2013, she was presented the Hero Certificate for the South Central Division and was appointed to the State Public Relations Committee from 2014-2018.
In her spare time, she loved being with her kids, grandkids, and family. She also enjoyed travelling, going on cruises, was a St. Louis Cardinals fan and an even bigger fan of the Kansas City Chiefs.
Memorial services will be at 1:00 p.m. on March 20, 2021 in Holman-Howe Chapel, Mansfield. Visitation will be from 12:30 until service time.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to American Diabetes Association, Ambassadors for Children, or Mansfield United Methodist Church and made through the funeral home.
