In Loving Memory of Sherida Lei (Rutan) Miller, a beloved woman whose beautiful spirit touched everyone she met. She graced this world for 75 fully lived years, passing away on February 10, 2025 surrounded by the love of her family and friends who will hold her in their hearts forever. A celebration of Sherida’s life will be held on Sunday, February 23, 2025 from 1pm – 4pm at Silo Ridge. She loved bright, beautiful colors, so per her and her family’s request, please wear bright colors and preferably no black. All family and friends are invited to come and have a great time celebrating an amazing woman.
Sherida was born June 15, 1949 in Houston, Texas to Edward “Boogie” and Edna Mae Rutan and to the delight of her older brother, Lance. She spent her childhood in the Dallas/Ft. Worth/Houston area, spending many hours sunbathing on the beach or fishing in the bay in Galveston.
When Sherida was 19, her adventurous spirit brought her to Missouri. There she would fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a mom to her beloved daughters, Kimberly Renae and Rondalen Brook. There was nothing more that Sherida enjoyed than raising her girls, being their biggest cheerleader in whatever sport or school activity they participated in.
In 1990, Sherida met the love of her life, Marvin, on a golf course. They eloped to Hawaii in October 1994. They started their married life on a farm in Collins, Missouri before moving to their beloved Silo Ridge in Bolivar. This is where they joined a wonderful community and developed many amazing friendships.
Sherida is survived by her loving husband, Marvin Miller; her brother, Lance Rutan; her oldest daughter Kimberly Meador and her partner, Kasey; her youngest daughter, Brook Hawks, her husband, Mike; Marvin’s daughters Melissa Riggins and Chasidy Crissup and her husband, Chad; her grandchildren Avery and Hadleigh Hawks, MaKenna Scott, Cole, Cooper and Charley Crissup; and her great-grandchildren, RayLynn, Opal and Sage. Sherida was preceded in death by her grandson, Shelby Brigance.
Sherida was a person of kindness, love, and strength. Her impact on the lives of those around her was immeasurable. She leaves behind a legacy of love and inspiration that will endure through the memories and stories shared by those who knew her. Her beautiful spirit will continue to serve as a source of guidance and strength for those who were fortunate enough to have known her.
