Sherrie L. Wilkey (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Sherrie Lynn Wilkey was born January 29, 1969, in Mansfield, Missouri. She departed this life Saturday, August 13, 2016, in Lebanon North Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, in Lebanon, Missouri, at the age of forty-seven years, six months, and fifteen days.
On July 4, 1990, she was united in marriage to Shawn Lee Wilkey, and to this union three daughters were born.
She was preceded in death by her mother, Sharon Kay Emerick; and her grandmother, Dona Emerick.
Sherrie is survived by three daughters, Jessica Lynn Wilkey, of Hinesville, Georgia, Kalee Dona Wilkey, and Shelby Louise Wilkey, both of Lebanon, Missouri; three grandchildren, Landon, Piper, and Skyler Franklin; her step-father, Allen DeCou, of Tunas, Missouri; a brother, Larry DeCou, of Lebanon, Missouri; three sisters, Sheila Gross, of Riceboro, Georgia, Shelly Whitely, of Jacksonville, Florida, and Chic DeCou, of Kansas City, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; her former spouse, Shawn Wilkey, of Lebanon, Missouri; as well as a host other relatives and friends.
She was raised in Seymour, Missouri, and then moved to Tunas, Missouri, when she was a teenager. She attended Buffalo High School in Buffalo, Missouri. She then moved to Lebanon, Missouri, and attended Lebanon School of Cosmetology. After earning her cosmetology license, Sherrie worked at Christa’s Beauty Salon, and at a local nursing home. Later, she worked at Bass Tracker for a time.
Sherrie had professed her faith in Christ and was a member of Community Baptist Church.
She enjoyed painting, sewing, embroidery and doing craft projects of all kinds. She enjoyed raising her daughters and was very proud of the young ladies they have become. She had put up a great fight with cancer and bore her illness with great courage and strength. She greatly liked spending time with her grandchildren.
Sherrie was a loving mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the wonderful memories she created for them during her forty-seven years.
