Shirley Dunlap (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Shirley Marie Dunlap, daughter of Gomer Glenn and Pearl Agnes Emond was born July 17, 1933, in Pamona, Kansas. She departed this life on December 13, 2016, in her home in Ozark, Missouri, at the age of 83 years, four months, and twenty-six days.
On August 20, 1949, she was united in marriage to Louis Vernon “Pete” Dunlap, and to this union two sons were born. She and Pete enjoyed 66 years together before his passing December 31, 2015.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Gerald, Loren, and Donnie, two sisters, Mildred and Arlene and a great granddaughter, Allie Rose Thomas.
Shirley is survived by her two sons, Steve Dunlap and wife, Debbie of Ozark, Missouri, Kenneth Dunlap and wife, Tammy of Haysville, Kansas; four grandchildren, Sharon Dunlap of Ava, Missouri, Amy Mettemeyer and husband, Alan, Stephanie Thomas and husband, Dwayne, and Gary Dunlap and wife, Misty, all of Ozark, Missouri; nine great-grandchildren, Payton, Ashley, Zaylee, Kevin, Paige, Hayden, Kyle, Samara and Brody; two sisters, Maxine Swain of Wichita, Kansas and Margie Jarvis of Bolivar, Missouri; several nieces, nephews other relatives and many friends.
Shirley was raised in the Wichita, Kansas area. Her son, Steve was born in Wichita, Kansas and they later moved to California where her son, Kenneth was born. She was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family and she also worked at Gessler's Drug Store and Associated Aircraft Company in Wichita, Kansas, for several years.
Shirley and her husband Pete retired and moved to Mansfield, Missouri in 1995. Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family and especially her grandchildren. She was a very friendly person, a wonderful hostess and loved cooking, especially baking for all her family, friends and neighbors.
She loved her family dearly and especially enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shirley was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and know that her family and friends will cherish the memories she created for them during her eighty-three years. She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all her family and friends.
