Shirley Lucille Hooper (Camdenton)'s Obituary
Shirley (Coffey) Hooper, daughter of Shelby Coffey and Pebble (Eidson) Coffey, was born September 29, 1938 in Macks Creek, Missouri. She departed this life on May 6, 2024 in Warrensburg, Missouri at the age of eighty-five years, seven months and seven days.
On August 25, 1955 she was united in marriage to John in her home, and started a family consisting of a daughter, Susan (Hooper) Gudde and a son, Bryan Hooper.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her sister, Janice Anderson; brother-in-law, Corkie Anderson; and sister-in-law, Betty Coffey.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan of Missouri; son, Bryan and wife Michele of Florida; brother, Carl Coffey; grandchildren, Ryan Hooper and wife Lauren, Trevor Gudde and wife Haley Day, Rachel Gudde and husband Mike Godsy, Anne Hays and Husband Stanley, and Jordan Gudde; and great-grandchildren Virginia Hays, James Hooper, Emma Hooper, and Brandon Hays.
Shirley was raised in Macks Creek and married John when she was a teenager and he was in the Air Force. They lived in various places throughout his enlistment. After John left active duty, they moved to Holts Summit, Missouri and then in the 1970’s to Warrensburg, Missouri.
Shirley was a devoted member of First Baptist Church in Warrensburg, but also maintained strong ties to her first church home, where she was baptized in January 1956 and joined the Parrack Grove Missionary Baptist Church.
She loved to travel, and in particular, going on “mystery trips.” One of her favorite things to do on a trip was to arrive at airports early so she could people watch. Her dear friend, Gwen Hix, was her reliable travel partner and they went on many adventures together.
She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will treasure the memories she created for her family and friends.
Funeral services will be held at Parrack Grove Church, Macks Creek, Missouri at 2:00 PM. Burial will follow in Parrack Grove Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church beginning at 1:00 PM.
