Shirley Johnson (Mansfield)'s Obituary
Shirley May Johnson, age 67, passed away on February 20, 2021. Shirley was born on a beautiful 54°spring Monday, March 23, 1953 in Oroville, California to Eugene Maddox and Flora Wiles Maddox. On February 14, 1997. Shirley married Martin Johnson, he preceded her in death on July 21, 2014.
In early years, Shirley was an avid fisherman, entrepreneur, truck driver and salesman. Shirley was very successful in so many ways. Our family grew up on the water. We built a lifetime of memories on Stockton Lake. The first time Tracy learned to drive a boat he actually threw her out of it. She would sing karaoke on the back of a flatbed trailer or jump on a 4- wheeler and take off. She was our mom; but also, our friend.
Shirley loved to love, she was always caring for her grandbabies and taking in abandoned animals. She had a possum, groundhog and raccoons that came along every night for their evening meal. Shirley even named the snake that lived in her flower garden. She loved to tend to her gardens, and plant fresh flowers every spring. Shirley was all about her birds and boy they were spoiled, even on the coldest days she made sure her birds had food and water. She loved to cook and got so much enjoyment out of sharing her food with others. Most of all she loved her family. To a lot of us she will always be “MoMo”. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts.
Shirley is survived by three children, Tammy Gettle of Pleasant Hope, Tracy Martin of Sparta and Jennifer Allen of Nashville, 3 step-children, Joseph Johnson, Joshua Johnson and Jacob Johnson, 19 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren. Shirley was loved by so many, her time on earth was too short, may she now rest in peace.
