Shirley Jean Laird (Bolivar)'s Obituary
Shirley Jean Laird, age 80, of Bolivar, Missouri departed this earth on June 1st, 2017 at her residence, in Bolivar, after a long-time battle with cancer.
Shirley was born in Bolivar, Missouri on December 31st, 1936, the daughter of Lonnie Scurlock and Wanda Covert-Scurlock. After graduating High School, on January 27, 1954, she married the love of her life, Loren Laird. To this union two children were born, Cathy & Karen.
Shirley spent many years working at Southwest Baptist University, working at the admissions department. After retiring, Shirley enjoyed spending time with her husband and family, traveling and gaming.
She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother, great- grandmother and loved by all the lives she touched.
Shirley is preceded in death by her parents and one brother in law, Buster Garretson.
She left behind a wonderful loving husband, Loren Laird of the home; two children; Cathy Akers and husband Ed of Springfield, MO; Karen Foster and husband Elvin of Bolivar, MO; one sister; Kay Garretson of Bolivar, MO. Two grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
A Visitation will be held on Monday, June 5, 2017 from 10:00 am- 11:30 am at the Butler Funeral Home in Bolivar, Missouri.
