Shirley Morgan (Lebanon)'s Obituary
Shirley Ruth Morgan, daughter of Jack Ernest and Alma Louise Vernon Stickler, was born August 21, 1947, in Lebanon, Missouri. She departed this life Wednesday, December 19, 2012, in Phelps County Regional Medical Center, in Rolla, Missouri, at the age of sixty-five years, three months, and twenty-eight days.
On May 21, 1966, she was united in marriage to Gerald Morgan, and to this union one daughter and one son were born.
She was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Edward Vernon Stickler.
Shirley is survived by her husband of forty-six years, Gerald, of the home; a son, Kenneth Morgan, of Lebanon, Missouri; a daughter, Lori Stanton, and her husband, Ivar, of Lebanon, Missouri; two grandsons, Tyler Morgan and C. J. Stanton; a sister, Mary Rippy, and her husband, Mike, of Lebanon, Missouri; several nieces and nephews; as well as a host of other relatives and friends.
She was born and raised in the Lebanon, Missouri area, and attended Lebanon High School. She then was a civil service worker for a time. After she and Gerald were married, they made their home in various locations including Germany, while Gerald served in the military. Throughout those years, Shirley was a devoted homemaker to her husband and family. Once Gerald retired from the military, the family made their home in Rolla, Missouri, where Shirley worked as an insurance agent for an independent insurance company. Later, Shirley and Gerald moved back to Lebanon.
Shirley made her profession of faith in Christ early in her life and was a charter member of Hillcrest Baptist Church. Upon returning to Lebanon, she and Gerald once again became involved in Hillcrest Baptist Church.
She enjoyed playing the piano and would always play “How Great Thou Art” and “Blue Hawaii” for her dad. She liked working with flowers and growing a garden each year. She was an avid reader and particularly liked Agatha Christie novels. She possessed a delightful sense of humor and was a fan of the Carol Burnett Show on television. She had an outgoing personality and always had lots of friends wherever they lived. She also had a love for animals of all kinds. Her family was very important to her and she especially enjoyed her grandsons.
Shirley was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and aunt, and was a caring neighbor and friend. We celebrate her life and her accomplishments and will cherish the wonderful memories she created for her family and friends.
